The Sandalwood Nut Company was founded by Yuko Fukagawa. Yuko’s background involves client liaison, business development, management, finance and sales. She immigrated to Australia in 2012 and through different and unique culinary experiences began her cultural education of all things Australian. Yuko came across the sandalwood nut in one of her dining explorations where the chef used them as a garnish on a dessert. She became curious and started researching the history and nutrition of the nut in Australia.
The Sandalwood Nut Company was born. She has been involved with the development of the products from start to finish and Yuko now wants to share her passion for this exceptional Australian nut with the world.
My favourite Japanese philosophy is wabi-sabi: “Nothing lasts, nothing is finished, nothing is perfect”
I see great value in the simplicity, the authenticity and yes, the imperfections of nature. It is these imperfections that make life more beautiful and add richness to our stories.
I was intrigued by the peculiar appearance of the West Australian native sandalwood nut, and quickly discovered their imperfect exterior enclosed an expansive culinary history bursting with unique nutritional qualities.
Now, I refer to them as the, “truffles of the nut world” – rare, special, unique, and most of all delicious.
I want to share my appetite for this unusual product with the world by melding this sophisticated and uniquely Western Australian nut with a pinch of Japanese culture and seasoning. The Sandalwood Nut Company brings you distinct flavours, exclusive products, and a little taste of culture in each pack.
Gather your friends, explore a world of flavour and discover the wabi-sabi over a box of sandalwood nuts.
